San Marcos, CA–The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office has released additional information about a fatal traffic collision that occurred Dec. 13 in San Marcos.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the pedestrian who was killed as 34-year-old Benjamin Lo Cicero. Authorities said Lo Cicero was struck during the collision and later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-150 involved in the crash was identified as 54-year-old Daniel Vega. Deputies said Vega was arrested following the incident on suspicion of driving under the influence. Officials emphasized, however, that the DUI arrest is not related to the cause of the collision.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit is handling the case.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has additional information is asked to contact the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station at (760) 510-5200.
