ALPINE–The Sheriff’s Department has launched an investigation of the suspicious deaths of 10 livestock found on private property in East County on Friday. 

Alpine Sheriff’s Department responded to an 8 a.m. call of suspicious circumstances in the 400 block of Peutz Valley Road in Alpine, Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Anthony O’Boyle said in a news release.

Upon arrival, deputies learned the reporting party’s livestock was found dead in an animal pen on the property. The livestock consisted of lambs, goats and a ram.  

The incident is being investigated as a felony animal cruelty case. 

Deputies are asking residents in the area for surveillance videos to share with their detectives. Residents with information on the case can call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. They may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to a felony arrest.
