Pedestrian killed in San Marcos traffic collision

San Marcos, CA–A fatal collision on Friday involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in San Marcos is under investigation.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at 7:50 p.m. regarding a traffic collision in the 1100 block of W. Mission Road.

When deputies arrived on scene, they learned the collision occurred between a black Honda Odyssey minivan and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was found in the westbound lanes of W. San Marcos Boulevard.

Deputies and paramedics provided life-saving measures at the scene, however, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at 8:15 p.m.

The driver of the minivan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in the collision, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation.
