Oceanside, CA–Oceanside police arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of homicide Saturday evening after officers responded to a reported altercation in a residential neighborhood, authorities said.

According to Oceanside Police, officers responded to a call, just before 6 p.m., of a disturbance in the 3500 block of Buffum Drive.

When officers arrived at the scene, they initially contacted a suspect believed to be involved in the incident. While searching the surrounding area, officers located an adult male unconscious near a residence.

Officers immediately began life-saving efforts, but the victim could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the man’s identity pending notification of his next of kin.

The suspect, identified as Andrew Swan, of Oceanside, was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the San Diego County jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
