Vista, CA–A motorcyclist was killed following a collision with an SUV on North Melrose Drive in Vista, Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to the crash around 7 p.m. in the 500 block of North Melrose Drive. According to a preliminary investigation, the motorcyclist had been traveling northbound when an SUV entered the roadway westbound from Dove Circle. The rider attempted to avoid the vehicle but struck it, resulting in a violent impact.
The motorcyclist was ejected and landed near the west curb of the southbound lanes. California Highway Patrol officers and sheriff’s deputies initiated CPR until fire department personnel arrived, but the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The Vista Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the station at (760) 940-4551.
