Oceanside, CA–A 27-year-old man died Wednesday morning after being ejected from his motorcycle in a collision with a truck near Douglas Drive and North River Road, according to Oceanside police.
The crash occurred around 6:33 a.m. when a silver Ford F-150 attempted to make a left turn from northbound Douglas Drive into an AM/PM gas station. A black Kawasaki sport bike, traveling southbound on Douglas Drive, struck the truck’s passenger side.
The motorcyclist, a Hispanic male, and Oceanside resident, sustained life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders transported him to Tri-City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:22 a.m.
The 33-year-old driver of the Ford F-150, also an Oceanside resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Investigators believe the motorcyclist’s speed was a contributing factor in the collision. However, the driver of the truck showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld until his family has been notified.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team leads the inquiry into the incident. Authorities urge anyone with information about the crash to contact Officer Lissner at (760) 435-4651.
