Sheriff’s detectives search for shooting suspect that injured man

By Gina Yarbrough

Alpine, CA–The Alpine Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance to identify and find a shooting suspect that sent a man to the hospital in East County this week.

On Tuesday, just after 2 p.m., the Sheriff’s Communications Center received calls about a shooting near the 14700 block of Quail Haven Lane in an unincorporated area of El Cajon.

When Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man who had been wounded in the shooting. They began rendering medical assistance until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He is expected to survive following emergency surgery.

At this time, Alpine Sheriff’s detectives have not identified a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at (858) 868-3200. The public can call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Callers may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to a felony arrest.
