By SDCN Staff

Oceanside, CA–A man allegedly making suicidal threats died Tuesday morning after he jumped from a multi-story parking structure in downtown Oceanside, authorities said.

Oceanside police officers responded to a report around 9:46 a.m. involving an adult male who was allegedly threatening to jump from a building.

Officers were advised that the man was walking in the area of North Coast Highway and Pier View Way before entering the parking structure in the 300 block of North Cleveland Street.

When officers arrived at the top level of the parking structure to safely intervene, the man jumped from the fourth story to the ground below. Officers immediately began life-saving measures until Carlsbad Fire Department personnel arrived and assumed medical care. Despite these efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene, the Oceanside Police Department stated in a news release.

The incident remains under investigation. The individual’s identity will not be released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 or 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
