Oceanside, CA–A kitchen fire erupted in a mobile home in Oceanside on Monday, leaving one resident injured, authorities reported.
The blaze was reported at 221 East El Camino Real shortly before 5 p.m. When Oceanside Fire Department personnel arrived, they were met with heavy smoke and flames billowing from both sides of the home, posing a significant threat to nearby units.
Firefighters launched efforts to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighboring properties. The blaze was under control within 30 minutes, and full containment was achieved after approximately 60 minutes. Crews remained on scene for two hours to extinguish hotspots and ensure the fire was completely out.
The resident suffered smoke inhalation injuries and was airlifted by Mercy Air ambulance to the UCSD Burn Center for treatment and evaluation. Another resident managed to escape the home uninjured.
According to Oceanside Fire investigators, the fire was caused by food left unattended on the stove.
