Spring Valley, CA–Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting on Tuesday that left one man dead, and another man with gunshot wounds to the arm in Spring Valley, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

Sheriff’s deputies received a call of a shooting around 10:06 p.m. in the 2700 block of Central Avenue. The reporting party heard several gunshots and found an adult male in the middle of the street. He was suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper torso, Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Joseph Jarjura said in the department’s news release.

When deputies and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they provided medical aid to the victim, but he died of his injuries.  

Investigators learned that an unidentified male arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm and was expected to survive. He was later identified as being the second victim in the shooting. Both identities are being withheld at this time due to the investigation. 

According Sheriff’s Department investigators, the nature of the relationship between the victims and any potential suspects is unknown. The motivation and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.
