Oceanside, CA — A residential fire left two adults displaced after it destroyed their home in Oceanside on Monday night, according to authorities.
The Oceanside Fire Department responded to the blaze at approximately 9 p.m. at 4581 Vineyard Street. Dispatchers had received a report of a kitchen fire, with concerns that a 76-year-old man might still be inside the residence.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke filling the entire home. Crews immediately began searching for potential occupants and pinpointing the fire’s origin.
Within minutes, additional resources, including three fire engines, a ladder truck, and an ambulance, arrived on the scene. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack using hose lines while continuing their search and working to extinguish the flames.
Meanwhile, the ladder truck team accessed the roof to cut a ventilation hole, allowing superheated gases to escape and improving visibility for those working inside.
Fortunately, no occupants were found during the search. Authorities later confirmed that the two residents had safely exited the house before firefighters arrived.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents by providing essential support to meet their immediate needs.
An investigation concluded that the fire originated in the kitchen.
