Del Mar, CA–Did you lose clothing or property at the San Diego County Fair?
The Fair’s Guest Services office had nearly 700 items turned in this year to its Lost and Found.
Each year, fairgoers spend their days at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for the community’s largest annual event. people misplace their phones, miss their kids’ shoes falling off, set their hats and glasses down, forget to pick them back up and walk off without their credit cards and wallets. These items all wind up in the Guest Services office.
The San Diego County Fair works to reunite San Diegans with the items they lost throughout — and even after — the Fair, which ends July 6. Many items have already found their way back to their rightful owners, but the Fair still has some goods that belong to others.
“The Fair provides our guests with unforgettable memories,” said Tristan Hallman, the Fair’s Chief Communications Officer. “Unfortunately, sometimes the memories are so amazing that they simply forget to leave with their material possessions.”
To report a lost item, contact the Fair’s Guest Services office. They will check their inventory for the item. Call (858) 794-1124 and leave a message.
Did you already report the loss? If yes, give the date and number on your record. If not, describe the lost item, using details, including the date you attended the Fair.
When you call, speak clearly. When you leave your name and phone number, speak slowly enough to clearly articulate your phone number and information. Spell your name if you think it will help the Fair find your records.
If you lost a cell phone, describe the phone brand (such as Samsung, iPhone, etc.) and the phone service provider (such as AT&T or Verizon), as well as any other information that will help identify your phone (such as distinctive case or custom decoration).
If you lost keys, include information such as an approximate number of keys, if there is a key fob, whether they are car, home, or office keys, and whether there is a key ring or decorative item attached.
After the Fair ends, a Fair official will be on-site July 9 -14, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. to assist those seeking their items.
All non-claimed items will be donated in September. Call (858) 794-1124 to set up an appointment to come and retrieve your lost item.
