Oceanside, CA–Firefighters contained a brush fire that ignited near the Oceanside Municipal Airport on Saturday afternoon, the Oceanside Fire Department confirmed.
The blaze broke out in vegetation west of the airport and quickly spread onto airport grounds, prompting a temporary shutdown of air traffic operations for safety. Crews managed to stop the fire’s forward progress within approximately 90 minutes.
The fire burned about three acres before being fully contained. Firefighters remained on site for several hours to extinguish hot spots and complete mop-up operations.
One fire investigator sustained a bee sting during the response but did not require medical attention. No other injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire officials are using the incident to remind the public of the rapid spread potential of wildfires during the hot, dry summer months. Residents and visitors are urged to stay alert and take preventive measures to reduce wildfire risks.
