Elderly pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle in San Marcos

By Gina Yarbrough

San Marcos, CA–A 76-year-old female pedestrian has died from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle in San Marcos Friday night, according to authorities.

Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traffic incident just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of South Twin Oaks Valley Road and Shubin Lane. A white Toyota Camry, driven by a woman traveling southbound on South Twin Oaks Valley Road, struck the pedestrian.

San Marcos paramedics transported the victim to Palomar Medical Center’s Trauma Unit, but despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver remained on the scene, and officials confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing, led by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office San Marcos Station’s Traffic Division.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the San Marcos Station Traffic Division at (760) 510-5200.
