San Diego, CA–SeaWorld San Diego’s popular Howl-O-Scream event is getting a new addition this year with the first-ever Howl-O-Sprint 5K.
Scheduled for October 20, this unique running and walking event will take place before the park opens, allowing participants to experience SeaWorld’s eerie Halloween atmosphere in a whole new way.
Beginning at 7 a.m., runners and walkers will embark on a 3.1-mile journey through SeaWorld’s spookiest attractions, including Halloween-themed décor, vignettes, and surprises from the Howl-O-Scream and Spooktacular events. Organizers promise plenty of spooky surprises along the course, with costumed characters and themed photo opportunities popping up throughout the route.
The family-friendly event welcomes all ages and fitness levels, and there’s even a one-mile Kids Fun Run for younger participants. While costumes are encouraged, participants are reminded that masks will not be permitted.
Everyone who joins the Howl-O-Sprint 5K will receive an official race shirt, a bib with a timing chip, and a unique finisher medal. Top finishers will have the chance to earn special awards.
The race is produced by Spectrum Sports Management and Timing Services, a leader in endurance events across Southern California. SeaWorld’s addition to this event is part of a broader calendar of running events that have made San Diego a popular destination for athletes and casual runners.
For families with younger children, SeaWorld San Diego will host its Spooktacular event through November 3. The celebration features trick-or-treating, a pumpkin patch, and other kid-friendly activities, with a brand-new pirate theme for 2024.
