Oceanside, CA–The Oceanside Police Department is investigating an early Wednesday morning e-bike crash that left a man critically injured in downtown Oceanside, authorities reported.
According to the Oceanside Police Department, officers on a routine patrol around 12:11 a.m. discovered a 52-year-old man lying in the roadway near Coast Highway and Seagaze Drive. The rider appeared to have sustained severe head and upper-body injuries.
Emergency personnel from the Oceanside Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla for emergency medical treatment.
Due to the seriousness of the man’s injuries, the Oceanside Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit has taken over the investigation. It remains unclear at this time whether any other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
