Carlsbad, CA–The Carlsbad Police Department is investigating a physical altercation involving juveniles at Poinsettia Park after a video of the incident circulated on social media.
Police said they became aware of the incident and immediately began working with officials from the Carlsbad Unified School District to review the circumstances surrounding what occurred. A police report has been filed, and the department confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are continuing to work with school officials and the parents of the juveniles involved as part of the investigation.
Authorities said both the Carlsbad Police Department and the school district take allegations involving bullying, harassment and discriminatory language that could be considered a hate crime seriously. Officials emphasized their commitment to ensuring students and community members feel safe and respected.
Because the individuals involved are minors, and due to student privacy laws, police said additional details cannot be released at this time.
