Oceanside, CA–Firefighters quickly contained a brush fire Tuesday afternoon near the San Luis Rey Riverbed, preventing injuries and damage to nearby structures, the Oceanside Fire Department said.
The blaze was reported at about 3:15 p.m. across from Capistrano Park on 770 Capistrano Drive.
Firefighters deployed hose lines to attack the blaze, establish containment and prevent it from spreading. The department’s Fire Mountain Hand Crew 21 assisted engine companies with containment and suppression efforts.
The fire burned about one-quarter acre. No civilians or firefighters were injured, and no structures were damaged.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Oceanside Fire Department reminded residents that dry vegetation can ignite and spread rapidly during warm, dry or windy conditions. Officials urged residents to maintain defensible space around their homes, properly dispose of smoking materials, avoid activities that could create sparks near dry vegetation, and immediately report smoke or fire by calling 911.
