Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar locations have launched their annual fundraiser supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding pediatric cancer research and family support programs.
Since the partnership began in 2005, Applebee’s restaurants, owned and operated by Flynn Group, have raised more than $8.7 million for the foundation and pediatric cancer research, funding over 170,000 hours of research to help scientists find more cures for children with cancer.
The restaurants will transform into lemonade stands as part of a campaign to raise funds in the fight against childhood cancer. At participating Applebee’s locations, guests can support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation with every sip, as 50 cents from each Lemon Berry Sunshine, 25 cents from every regular or flavored lemonade, and 10 cents from each Mucho Blushing Dragon, Mucho Prickly Plunge Margarita, and Mucho Blackflippn’ Blue Margarita will be donated to the foundation.
“For more than two decades, Applebee’s and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation have come together to support families affected by childhood cancer,” said Greg Flynn, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Flynn Group. “We’re grateful for the continued generosity of our guests and the commitment of our restaurant teams who help bring this important cause to life in their local communities. Together, we’re proud to continue raising funds and awareness to support the fight against pediatric cancer.”
Guests can support the cause through August 30 by choosing from several donation options. Customers can make digital donations at participating Applebee’s restaurants in $1, $5, $10 or $20 increments at checkout. Online donations are also available through the “Digital Lemon” category on the foundation menu at Applebees.com and the Applebee’s mobile app, or by selecting the “Donate Now” option when purchasing gift cards.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was established in 2005 to continue the mission of Alexandra “Alex” Scott. While fighting her own battle with neuroblastoma, Alex set up a lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money for “doctors to find a cure for all childhood cancers.” Since her first stand, the foundation has grown into one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the country, raising more than $250 million and funding over 1,000 research projects. In 2021, one of those research projects led to the discovery of a cure for a specific type of neuroblastoma – the disease that Alex fought hard against.
