National City, CA–National City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance for information on the identity of three suspects accused of shooting a 16-year-old boy in the head Wednesday night in National City, authorities said.

Officers responded at around 9 p.m. to the intersection of East 16th Street and Euclid Avenue to investigate a report of a person who had been shot. Officers arrived on the scene and found a 16-year-old male victim on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. 

Officers gave emergency first aid to the victim until medics arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to a local trauma center where he is currently on life support. His injury is considered non-survivable. The victim’s name has not been released, officials said in a news release.

Witnesses describe three unknown suspects running away from the scene after the shooting. The suspects ran eastbound on East 16th Street.
