OCEANSIDE–A 17-year-old driver was seriously injured Friday evening in a two-vehicle collision in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
The Oceanside Police Department received at 9:24 p.m. reports of a serious injury collision involving two vehicles on North River Road just east of Stallion. Officers and paramedics arrived to find the teen driver who was ejected from his Toyota 4 runner, on the ground, unconscious, with severe head injury. He was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. Officers on scene located the other vehicle, a Ford F150 and the 33-year-old driver at the scene who was uninjured.
The Ford was traveling westbound on North River Road and crossed over the double yellow line and collided with the Toyota which was traveling eastbound on the same road. The Toyota lost control and rolled off the road ejecting the driver. The Ford also lost control and ran off the road into a dirt field.
The driver of the Ford, Jose Orozco of Vista, was evaluated at the scene for DUI Drugs and was arrested for felony DUI with injury. He was later booked into county jail.
