OCEANSIDE—A motorcyclist involved in last month’s vehicle collision with a DUI driver died July 1 from his injuries, Oceanside Police Department reports.

The motorcyclist has been identified as active duty Marine, Nicholas Kursinskis. His family was with him at the hospital at the time of his passing.

The driver of the truck, 59-year-old Kennith Allen, was arrested for felony DUI with serious injuries the night of the collision. He has since been charged with vehicular manslaughter after the passing of Kursinskis and is currently being held on $500,000 bail in jail.

On June 28, Oceanside police officers responded to several calls of a collision involving a motorcycle and a truck at El Camino Real and Mission Avenue. Officers and paramedics arrived on scene to find the 25-year-old motorcycle rider down and unconscious. He was immediately transported to a local area hospital. The driver of the truck was detained and after an investigation was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to several witnesses and evidence at the scene, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on El Camino Real approaching a green light at the intersection with Mission Ave. As the motorcyclist entered the intersection, a Dodge truck traveling westbound on Mission Ave. turned northbound onto El Camino Real, after stopping for the red light, into the path of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist tried to stop but he collided with the driver side of the truck, ejecting the motorcyclist.
