SAN DIEGO–Military operations will require daily closures of Old Pacific Highway/Old Highway 101 bike path between Las Pulgas Road and San Onofre State Park beginning Monday. The closures will be in effect during daylight hours through Feb. 14.
Bicyclists will be permitted to ride along the outside freeway shoulders along Interstate 5 between Las Pulgas and Basilone roads as a detour during the closures. Signs will be posted alerting bicylcists to exit at all off-ramps including the weigh station and vista point to avoid the possibility of traffic conflicts with vehicles.
Motorists are reminded to drive alertly, to watch for bicyclists traveling near vehicle traffic and to share the road.
