San Diego, CA–A man suffered serious injuries after he was stabbed in the upper arm during a physical altercation in East Village on Sunday afternoon, authorities said. 

The incident was reported at about 3:30 p.m. near the trolley stop at Market Street and Island Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim on the ground bleeding from a stab wound. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

A suspect was arrested in connection to the stabbing, according to police.

Authorities have closed traffic to Park Boulevard and Market Street to investigate the incident. 

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
