OCEANSIDE–A man Friday morning suffered serious injuries after he was assaulted in downtown Oceanside, according to Oceanside police department.
police officers, just after 1 a.m., responded to a radio call of a man who was down on the ground in the west alley of the 300 block of South Coast Highway.
Officers and paramedics arrived on scene and found a 20-year-old black male on the ground.
Paramedics rendered medical aid and the injured man was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment. Doctors at the hospital determined the man’s injuries were consistent with that of an assault. He was placed on life support and is in critical condition.
The victim has been identified, but his name is not being released pending notifications of his family members.
Detectives are currently conducting a follow-up investigation.
