VISTA–A man is in custody on suspicion of setting a vehicle on fire in the north county on November 17, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reports.
Jose Garcia, 45, was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of arson and possession of illegal drugs.
Deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to a 10 p.m. report of a car fire in the 1200 block of East Vista Way in Vista.
On their way to the scene, a witness reported seeing a man, who appeared to be homeless, walk by the car, break a window and start the fire.
When deputies arrived, they found a man who matched the suspect’s description. He had a lighter in one hand and a pipe used to smoke illegal drugs in the other.
