CHULA VISTA–A man was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a teen in Imperial Beach early Friday morning, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies located a crime scene at a residence in the 400 block of 7th Street in Imperial Beach. They identified Johnnathan Riebeling, 19, as the alleged suspect in the shooting. Riebeling was arrested in Imperial Beach and booked into San Diego Central Jail for one count of murder.
On April 10, an adult male was dropped off at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista in the early morning hours with a single gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Diego Rodriguez of San Diego.
The Medical Examiner’s Office reports the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death is homicide.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives continue to investigate the incident.
