DEL MAR–Heavy rains caused a bluff to collapse on a beach in Del Mar Friday morning, according to the City of Del Mar.
The bluff failure occurred east of Camino del Mar and south of the split to Jimmy Durante Boulevard. The northbound Camino del Mar, north of Sea View Avenue is closed.
Northbound traffic is being detoured onto 15th Street and Coast Boulevard to return to Camino del Mar at 22nd Street.
City crews have placed protective barriers near the slide location and are closely monitoring the area with the city’s consulting geologist.
