Gym equipment sparks fire at Mission Pacific Beach Resort

By Gina Yarbrough

Oceanside, CA–A fire erupted in the fitness room of the Mission Pacific Beach Resort in downtown Oceanside Wednesday afternoon, prompting an immediate response from the Oceanside Fire Department.

According to the Oceanside Fire Department, the incident occurred on the hotel’s second floor which was filled with heavy smoke and flames, spreading from a piece of gym equipment into the surrounding structure.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and deployed multiple hoses to battle the blaze, which was further mitigated by the hotel’s sprinkler system. The fire was confined to the fitness room.

The hotel’s fire alert system was activated immediately, allowing for a coordinated evacuation of guests and staff. Additional fire department personnel assisted in the evacuation, ensuring everyone was safely escorted from the building. After extinguishing the fire, firefighters worked diligently to remove water from the affected area, minimizing further damage and allowing the resort to resume normal operations.

“Our top priority was the safety and well-being of the guests and staff,” the Oceanside Fire Department said in a statement. “We are relieved to report that all guests were safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported. The hotel will remain open with minimal disruption to its services and amenities.”

The Oceanside Fire Department emphasized the importance of preparedness for hotel guests in the event of a fire. Visitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the hotel’s fire escape plan, locate all exits, and follow the instructions of hotel staff and emergency personnel in an emergency.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
