ESCONDIDO–Sheriff’s Department detectives Wednesday arrested an Escondido Union High School District staff member suspected of lewd acts with a minor.
Travis Putnam, 33, of Escondido was arrested at around 1:40 p.m. on Interstate 5 freeway in Oceanside. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Unit were notified of possible sexual abuse allegations made against Putnam. The victims in this case were juveniles at the time of the incidents and their names and any identifying information will not be released.
The incidents occurred in unincorporated Escondido. At this time the allegations reported to the Sheriff’s Office had nothing to do with Putnam’s current employment.
After the initial investigation, detectives determined there was sufficient probable cause to arrest Putnam on four counts of Lewd Acts with a Child.
The investigation is continuing.
