CARLSBAD–A 24 year-old female driver under the influence was arrested after she was involved in a hit and run accident, followed by a vehicle pursuit with Carlsbad police officers that ended in a collision with four vehicles.

The driver was identified as Yonna Dovone Jones of Oceanside, according to Carlsbad police department.

Saturday’s hit and run accident occurred at Palomar Airport Road and Cannon Drive, according Carlsbad police department.

Police officers say a witness followed the woman’s vehicle, a Toyota Camry, east on Palomar Airport Road. She turned off her headlights and continued east on Palomar Airport Road. Carlsbad police officers located the Camry at the intersection of El Camino Real and Palomar Airport Road. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the Camry fled eastbound at a high rate of speed and officers immediately cancelled the pursuit due to weather and roadway conditions. The Camry continued eastbound at a high rate of speed and collided with four other vehicles in the intersection of Melrose drive and Palomar Airport Road. Two persons were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Jones was booked into Vista Detention Facility for felony-DUI, hit and run, and felony-failure to yield causing injuries.
