Chula Vista, CA–Chula Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s help in seeking the identity of a driver who shot and killed another driver at an intersection in Chula Vista on Wednesday, authorities said. 

Chula Vista Police received a 9-1-1 call, just before 10 a.m., of a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Broadway and E Street. 

Officers responded and located the victim in the driver seat of his black Nissan Altima, which was stopped along the north curb in front of 593 E Street. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

According to witnesses, the suspect and victim were seen driving westbound on E Street in two separate vehicles prior to the shooting. Both vehicles stopped along the roadway. The drivers exited their vehicles and approached each other. One of the drivers then shot the other and fled in a silver or gray, 4-door sedan, possibly a Nissan. The suspect vehicle was last seen by witnesses heading westbound on E Street towards the I-5 freeway. 

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, of unknown age, 5’8” to 5’9”, medium build, with short hair. 

The victim was a 38-year-old man who authorities believe to have been a Chula Vista resident. His identity is being withheld pending notification to the family and additional investigation. 

The Chula Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect in this incident.
