San Diego, CA–A passenger was killed, and two others seriously injured following a vehicle collision early Wednesday morning on Interstate 805 and State Route 905
At around 3:15 a.m., a white BMW was traveling southbound on Interstate 805 transitioning to State Route 905 westbound. The 18-year-old female driver from San Diego lost control of her vehicle causing it to veer off the roadway and overturn. All three occupants in the vehicle were extricated by San Diego Fire Department personnel. A female passenger sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and other female passenger were transported to a local hospital with major injuries. Southbound Interstate 805 transition ramp to westbound State Route 905 was closed for approximately three hours.
The cause of the collision and sequence of events is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Diego Area. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
