Oceanside, CA–A ¼ acre vegetation fire Thursday forced a Sprinter train to shut down briefly while fire crews worked to control the blaze in Oceanside, fire officials said.
White smoke coming from a potential homeless encampment was reported at 3 p.m. near El Camino Real and the Sprinter rail tracks.
The Sprinter rail lines were shut down for firefighter safety, and the Oceanside Police Department assisted in controlling traffic for the safety of all personnel on scene, Oceanside Fire Department Battalion Chief Justin Klopfenstein stated in a news release.
Due to the location of the fire, crews deployed hose lines to reach the fire, and extinguish it in about 45 minutes.
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire was determined to be human in nature in the middle of a homeless encampment.
