SAN DIEGO–California Highway Patrol is seeking witnesses to a vehicular homicide that occurred March 4 along southbound Interstate 5 north of Sea World Drive.
During the incident, a BMW veered from the freeway and landed in a nearby waterway, where a female occupant was removed from the vehicle but later died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision. Another occupant of the BMW, drenched in water, walked up onto the freeway where it is believed she was observed by several passing motorists before being given a ride from the scene by a good Samaritan, unaware of the earlier collision.
The two female occupants of the BMW at the time of the collision were believed to have been in Pacific Beach at Open Bar and Baja Beach Café, near Mission Boulevard and Thomas Avenue, prior to the incident.
CHP is seeking witnesses with information regarding the activities of the woman on the night of March 4 prior to the collision, and anyone who observed her on the freeway or in the adjacent community shortly after 9 p.m.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP San Diego Area, Special Investigations Unit during business hours at (858) 293-6000.
