San Diego, CA–In celebration of May 4, also known by Star Wars fans as “May the 4th be with you,” San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Jordan Marks invites the public to take part in a special wedding ceremony with Star Wars inspired vows.
Wedding ceremonies will take place at the County clerk’s downtown waterfront office, which will also issue marriage licenses from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. While appointments are recommended, walk-in services will be available.
“In every great love story, there’s a spark that brings two people together, call it destiny, or call it the Force.” Marks said. “On May 4th, I become the “Yoda” of love and invite couples to begin their own ‘happily ever after’ love story jedi-style with a both meaningful and unforgettable Star Wars inspired ceremony in a galaxy not so far away.”
Only the waterfront location will host the ceremonies. Couples may exchange vows and share their intergalactic love outdoors at Waterfront Park wedding arbor with the County Administration Center as a backdrop or inside one of the office’s ceremony rooms.
Couples are encouraged to wear costumes—Jedi, Sith, droids, or other character themed attire, and couples may choose to incorporate the exclusive May 4 themed vows into their ceremony.
Nonconfidential marriage licenses are available for $129, while civil ceremonies conducted by county staff cost $107. Ceremonies may be performed in either English or Spanish. Free parking is available at the County’s downtown garage.
