San Diego, CA–A U.S. Coast Guard crew from Station San Diego intercepted a vessel carrying 12 undocumented migrants approximately 10 miles west of Point Loma on Sunday afternoon.
The 35-foot closed-cabin boat was spotted under suspicious circumstances and was boarded by Coast Guard personnel around 1:30 p.m. Upon inspection, authorities discovered 12 individuals on board, all of whom claimed Mexican nationality.
The migrants were safely transferred to the custody of U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Imperial Beach station later that same day.
Officials have not yet released details regarding the vessel’s origin or intended destination. The incident remains under investigation.
