Santee, CA–The County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the infant who died after being left in a vehicle in Santee last week.
The victim was identified as two-month-old Diana Sofia Aleman Roman.
The cause and manner of the baby’s death are yet to be determined, pending results from forensic, laboratory, and toxicology tests conducted by the medical examiner.
The incident occurred on June 12 when the family arrived home around 3 p.m. According to the Sheriff’s Department, a family member discovered the unconscious infant inside the SUV shortly after midnight on June 13, parked on Settle Road.
Upon finding the baby unresponsive, the family member immediately called 9-1-1. Deputies from the Santee Sheriff’s Station and paramedics from the Santee Fire Department quickly responded to the scene, providing life-saving measures before transporting the infant to Sharp Grossmont Hospital. The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Child Abuse Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.
