ENCINITAS–A male bicyclist was struck and killed Saturday morning in a traffic collision in Encinitas, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Shortly before 12 noon, a male cyclist was struck by a vehicle as the driver navigated a right turn from westbound Leucadia Boulevard to Moonstone Court in Encinitas. The vehicle and driver remained at the scene. Bystanders rendered medical aid to the injured cyclist.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Scripps La Jolla where he succumbed to his injuries. Alcohol isn’t a factor in the collision.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating.
