SPRING VALLEY–Authorities Wednesday shutdown an illegal marijuana dispensary operating in Spring Valley.

Shortly before 8 a.m.., the Rancho San Diego Crime Suppression Team and  detectives assisted County Code Compliance with serving an abatement warrant at Cookiez Collective marijuana dispensary, located in the 2900 block of Sweetwater Road. The abatement warrant was the direct result of numerous complaints from residents and Cookiez Collective owners violating San Diego County Zone ordinance 6976.

During the operation deputies located a large amount of marijuana, marijuana edibles, marijuana paraphernalia, cash, as well as items used in the sales of marijuana. Four employees were cited and released for possession and sales of marijuana. County Code Compliance secured the illegal dispensary by boarding up all entry doors to the location.

County departments are addressing illegal marijuana dispensaries in Spring Valley and other unincorporated areas of San Diego county by enforcing building code requirements involving illegal or improper occupancy in conjunction with the administrative abatement process. The County has begun serving illegal dispensaries with 10-day notices, ordering property owners to remove tenants involved in the illegal sales of marijuana.

If the tenant is not removed and enforcement action is taken, the County will continue abatement proceedings and secure the property to ensure the building remains safe. Any person found inside the property after the County secures the building is subject to be arrested.

The County anticipates continued compliance as we enforce the securing of structures without a permitted use. Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Captain M. Marco Garmo in partnership with our community is dedicated to the continued enforcement and elimination of all illegal marijuana dispensaries.
