SAN DIEGO–San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Bomb and Arson Unit are asking assistance from the public to help identify and locate the suspect who is responsible for starting a vegetation fire in San Marcos.

On December 10 at 11:53 a.m., witnesses reported a vegetation fire at 1111 La Moree Road in San Marcos. Deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station and personnel from the San Marcos Fire Department responded to the location of the fire.

The fire burned approximately 100 square feet and burned near a Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall. No structures were damaged; however, investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and is being investigated as arson. Nearby surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect.

The suspect is described as an adult white male adult wearing a gray sweatshirt and black shorts. He was carrying a brown backpack and riding a mountain bike.
