VISTA–Authorities are investigating a suspicious structure fire that broke out early Saturday morning that spread to nearby businesses and residential apartments, Sheriff’s deputies said.

The blaze was reported around 2 a.m. in an alley behind the 400 block of North Santa Fe Avenue in Vista.

Upon arrival, deputies located the fire that had quickly spread to at least four nearby businesses and residential apartments. Firefighters from the Vista Fire Department, Carlsbad Fire Department and Oceanside Fire Department were able to control and extinguish the fire. 

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson unit believe the fire appears to be suspicious in nature.
