OCEANSIDE–More than 500 people visited the City of Oceanside’s World of Water event on Saturday to celebrate water and learn how the City of Oceanside provides its customers the world’s most precious resource – water!

The event was timed to take place a day after World Water Day to raise awareness about the importance of water and to launch tours of a new water program that will bring a new source of water coming to Oceanside, called “Pure Water Oceanside.”

Guests learned how Pure Water Oceanside will purify recycled water to create a new, local source of high-quality drinking water for Oceanside that is clean, safe, drought-proof and environmentally sound. Pure Water Oceanside will produce enough water to provide more than 30 percent of Oceanside’s water supply.

At the event, guests toured the San Luis Rey Water Reclamation Facility and participated in STEM-based educational activities including hands-on water experiments, water-themed crafts and planting drought-tolerant succulents to take home.

“The World of Water celebration offered residents an opportunity to see first-hand the innovative water programs and techniques Oceanside uses to provide clean, sustainable and environmentally sound water sources,” said Cari Dale, City of Oceanside’s Water Utilities Director.
