OCEANSIDE—The Star Theatre Company kicks off its premiere of Into the Woods on Friday at the Star Theatre in Oceanside.

Into The Woods, directed by David Schulz with musical direction by Leigh Sutherlin, is a witty and irreverent take on several beloved classic fairy tales, including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Jack and the Beanstalk.

In this reimagined tale, a baker and his wife must journey through an enchanted forest on a quest to undo a witch’s curse. How can they break the spell? And what happens after “happily ever after?” To find out, see this Tony Award winning masterpiece by musical theatre giants Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine.

Performances are February 14 to 23; Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.

General admission is $18; seniors/military/students $12; children12 and under $7. To reserved seats, visit http://startheatre.biz/star_now_showing. For handicapped seating or group rates, contact the theatre at (760) 721-9983, Monday to Friday between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
