San Diego, CA–During Tuesday’s City of San Diego Council meeting at the City Administration Building, it was proclaimed that Sept.18 will now be “The Gap Minders Day,” to commemorate the 75th episode of The Gap Minders podcast, a collaborative effort between United Way of San Diego County and San Diego Council on Literacy that sheds light on gaps in the community.
San Diego City Councilmember Raul Campillo presented Nancy Sasaki, president and CEO of United Way of San Diego County, and Jose Cruz, CEO of San Diego Council on Literacy with the proclamation.
For 75 episodes, United Way of San Diego County and the San Diego Council on Literacy have been on a mission to spotlight the systemic inequities in the community that affect education, race, wealth, health, literacy, and other issues. San Diego County is home to a multitude of these disparities, and The Gap Minders podcast firmly believes that open dialogue serves as the bedrock for cultivating a more equitable community.
Guided by United Way of San Diego County’s pioneering thought leadership and active efforts to address disparities in education and economic mobility, and through engaging conversations with experts and community leaders, The Gap Minders podcast dives into systemic inequities and explores effective strategies for addressing them head-on to bridge the gaps and make the community stronger, together.
