SAN DIEGO–Kaiser Permanente San Diego has recently named the appointment of Jane Finely as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan in San Diego and Max Villalobos as Chief Operating Officer of North County for Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, replacing Mary Ann Barnes and Edward Littlejohn respectively.

Finley fills the role of Mary Ann Barnes who was recently named regional president of Kaiser Permanente Hawaii region.

In this role, Finley will be responsible for the oversight of health care delivery, financial operations and health plan and hospital support functions in San Diego County, where Kaiser Permanente has more than 528,000 members, a new 414-bed acute care hospital and 24 medical offices.

Finley began her career at Kaiser Permanente in 1984. She has advanced through a variety of positions including director of planning; business strategy and finance leader for the former Tri-Central service area; and director of hospital operations, Panorama City Medical Center. Finely was promoted to senior vice president and service area manager of the Valleys service area in 2004. Two years later, she moved to her current role in Downey where she helped to complete the construction and opening of the new Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center.

Finely holds a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Missouri, Columbia and a master’s degree in health service administration from the University of Michigan. She will assume her new position in June.

Max Villalobos

Villalobos will lead Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan operations in North County, including oversight of Kaiser Permanente’s North County membership growth strategy, facility expansion, and delivery system build-out. Viallalobos will also be responsible for building effective partnerships and promoting collaborative relationships with Kaiser Permanente’s contracted health care partners in North County.

Villalobos joins San Diego from Kaiser Permanente’s Napa/Solano area in Northern California, where he holds the position of Senior Vice President & Area Manager.  In his current role, Villalobos oversees hospital and health plan operations for Kaiser Permanente’s 248-bed Vallejo, and 174-bed Vacaville Hospitals, as well as the Vallejo Rehabilitation Center.  The Napa/Solano area cares for 250,000 members, and has 4,200 staff and 500 physicians.

Prior to his current role in Napa/Solano, Villalobos held the Senior Vice President & Area Manager position in South Sacramento.  He has also held positions as Chief Operating Officer for South Sacramento, and Operations Support Service Leader for the Capital Service Area.  Villalobos brings 32 years of health care experience to Kaiser Permanente San Diego, having begun his career with Cedar Sinai Hospital as Director of Materials Management and Logistics in 1982. Villalobos holds a Master of Health Services Administration from USC, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Villalobos’s appointment is effective May 19.
