Padres to honor Peter Seidler with celebration of life ceremony

By SDCN Editor

San Diego, CA–The San Diego Padres announced plans to pay tribute to their beloved former chairman and owner, Peter Seidler, with a celebration of life ceremony at Petco Park on March 23.

The team will also honor Seidler’s memory throughout the 2024 regular season by wearing a special “PS” jersey patch.

The 1 p.m. ceremony will be attended by current and former Padres players, team and league executives, local dignitaries, family members, and special guest speakers. Padres broadcaster Don Orsillo will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event.

Admission is free, but fans must claim digital tickets starting February 29. Gates will open at noon, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Free parking will be available in Padres-controlled lots, including the Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Lot, and Padres Parkade. For additional details and the latest information, visit www.padres.com/Events.

The design of the jersey patch, featuring Seidler’s initials inside a heart, was conceived by Seidler’s children. The Padres will wear this patch over their hearts throughout the season in all uniform combinations. Fans can view and download variations of the jersey patch on the Padres website.

The first 10,000 fans attending the celebration of life ceremony will receive a complimentary jersey patch. The patch will also be available for purchase at the Padres Team Store at Petco Park during the season, with all net proceeds benefiting the Padres Foundation. The funds raised will support the newly established Peter Seidler Legacy Projects, which will include impactful grants in the greater San Diego community and northern Baja.
