San Diego, CA–The San Diego Bowl Game Association’s board of directors has elected Cherry Park president of the non-profit effort in 2022. She succeeds Bob Bolinger.

The association oversees the annual SDCCU Holiday Bowl football game, Sports San Diego, and a year-round calendar of events.

“I’m truly honored to serve as president of an organization that accomplishes so many great things for our community,” Park said. “I look forward to working with our team and finally kicking off the SDCCU Holiday Bowl at its new home at Petco Park, and growing Sports San Diego into an impactful force for attracting more tourism-driving sporting events to the region.”

Recognizing that San Diego is a premier tourist destination, the mission of the non-profit San Diego Bowl Game Association is to generate tourism, visibility, and economic impact for the San Diego region. Since 1978, the group has done this by producing the Holiday Bowl. To date, the bowl effort has generated an economic benefit of nearly $1 billion for the San Diego region. In February, the association announced the launch of Sports San Diego which, like the Holiday Bowl, is a DBA under the San Diego Bowl Game Association. With Sports San Diego, the group will recruit, support, and host premier sporting events for the San Diego region.

Park is a seasoned brand marketer and digital experience leader, driving innovation and transformative change for the global marketing organization at Qualcomm. She is a creative and resourceful operational leader, with a strong history of building high-performing, results-oriented teams.
