El Cajon, CA–The Dehesa School District will celebrate its 150th anniversary on October 21, inviting families, alumni, neighbors, community partners and local leaders to mark the historic milestone.
The celebration will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dehesa School, 4612 Dehesa Road in El Cajon. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Parking and shuttle service will be available across the street.
The Dehesa 150th celebration will bring the community together to honor the district’s history, celebrate the people and partnerships that support its students, and look toward the future. Guided by the theme “Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Community, Committing to the Future,” the event will feature cultural presentations, student learning, local vendors, and activities for community members of all ages.

Celebration highlights include:
- Kumeyaay bird dancing and singing, honoring the cultural heritage of the community.
- Student presentations and a project display, supported by the Sycuan Cultural Center Museum, highlighting the history of the land.
- Native American and local community vendors, along with tacos and traditional Indigenous frybread.
- A commemorative art project for the school, inviting community members to help create a lasting tribute to this milestone.
- Door prize raffle and auction opportunities presented by Dehesa United PTA with the support of the 9th District PTA.
Community partners and leaders have been invited to join students, staff, and families for this special occasion. The celebration offers an opportunity to reconnect with Dehesa, share in its history, and recognize the relationships that continue to shape the district.
Hosted by Dehesa School District students and staff in partnership with Dehesa United PTA (supported by the 9th District PTA), the event welcomes everyone to take part in celebrating 150 years of learning and community.
