San Diego, CA–The Foundation for Animal Care and Education (FACE) has been awarded a $10,000 grant investment from Petco Love (formerly Petco Foundation) to help pets fight cancer by covering the cost of care for pet parents who are unable to afford treatment.

The investment will help to ensure pets receive the medical care they need to thrive with their loving families, like Sparky, a six-year-old Pitbull terrier who was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor and was in need of radiation therapy. Sparky was fortunate to have a good prognosis as long as he received treatment, but his “dad” had lost his job because of COVID’s impact on the business where he worked. Sparky’s family sadly could not afford the cost of treatment. The Petco Love grant covered Sparky’s treatment and his prognosis is good.

“Without the support of Petco Love, we would not be able to offer second chances to very deserving pets and their families. We have seen a high success rate of cancer recovery of those helped by our partnership with Petco Love, and the impact it makes on families lasts forever. We deeply appreciate Petco Love’s efforts in battling cancer in pets,” said Danae Davis, Executive Director of the FACE Foundation.

Since 2010, Petco Love, in partnership with Blue Buffalo, has invested more than $16 million to help pets across the country fight pet cancer. Throughout May, Petco customers are invited to donate online and in Petco locations nationwide to join the fight against pet cancer and help provide other lifesaving treatment for pets in need.
